I haven’t posted in forever (again) – why is keeping up with posting on my own blog something that so often feels like an afterthought? Seriously, I tend to forget that I even have a blog. The majority of this post will be sent out as an email update for those on my list. If you aren’t on my list but would like to be, please let me know and I’ll be sure to include you in my infrequent correspondence. :)
Let’s see. It looks like the last I posted, I was returning from Portugal right before Will began his move to Boston...
Right now, I am listening to the afternoon thunderstorm outside, rain drops steadily coming down on the skylights of our Boston apartment. Will and I got married on July 28th in Orlando. We had a beautiful, very intimate wedding, and the next day flew up to Boston, where I’ve been getting us settled in ever since. Our boxes are just barely more than halfway unpacked, but it already feels like a cozy home here – the perfect place to start our lives as newlyweds.
(By the way, there are pictures on my Instagram of the proposal and wedding in case you’d like to see them!)
I haven’t begun teaching here yet, as I’m taking my time to get acclimated and build my classes organically. In Orlando, I was over-doing it a bit, and I didn’t even realize how that was affecting me until I was able to step away and slow down some. So I’ve been in a bit of a recovery period, coming off of working seven days a week without a day off for months at a time, and also of crazy wedding planning and preparation – we planned and executed our wedding in a total of three weeks! So yeah, I’ve been taking a breather since the wedding. We haven’t had a honeymoon yet, as Will needed to start back to work right away, but we are enjoying exploring and getting to know our new city together. While Will works, I unpack our apartment little by little and do things that are fun because they’re so new, like plan meals for us and write thank you notes.
Regardless of how long my in-person classes take to build here, I am offering distance yoga and meditation sessions for my students at home and abroad. If you have Skype or FaceTime and would like a private lesson, now is the time to book one with me. One of the benefits is that you don’t have to leave your house (and neither do I!). Because I don’t have to factor travel or studio costs into my pricing, distance sessions can be a lot more financially accessible than in-person private lessons, so please know that this option is available and affordable.
Now that I’ve told you all about what’s going on in my world, what’s going in yours? How has this summer been? Have you noticed any improvements in your life since last summer? How is your Spiritual walk? How is your body? Are you feeling your best, or are you in need of a relaxing wellness retreat?
It’s amazing to look back over what has changed just since last summer. I know that a year ago I was full of questions, but also so full of inspiration. I was still fresh from my trip to India and excitedly planning my first yoga and wellness retreat to Portugal! It’s hard to believe I’ve hosted four domestic and international retreats since then.
Following my last international retreat, I wasn’t sure I’d lead another one for a long time. However, I have gotten quite a bit of interest from various students and friends about a late autumn retreat. I am now seriously considering hosting one more for this year, but only if it genuinely works for enough of you. If you would like to take a late autumn wellness retreat with me this year, please tell me if you’d prefer somewhere domestic or international, cool or tropical. I’m excited to see where this will go!
It’s also hard to believe that the boy who was my best friend last summer is still my best friend this summer, and is now my husband! It’s amazing to me what can change in a year! And also what lingers. Isn’t life artful in that way?
I’m looking forward to hearing from you about distance sessions and whether a retreat is in the books for you this year. And if you need to order some Happy Belly (my Golden Milk blend), let me know and I will ship it you ASAP.
I am legally changing my surname to Nilson, however it is remaining dos Santos for all of my yoga/wellness business purposes.
